This is a one-day lecture course in handling computer incidents, crimes, and preparing for an investigation. It was designed for front line personnel who would be the first to respond to a computer incident, crime scene or seizure. The course covers the basic techniques in the identification of electronic evidence, provides an understanding of what information is required to conduct an electronic search warrant or ensure private corporation’s right to seize, and the securing of a computer crime scene. The curriculum exposes the student to various types of systems, storage media, techniques and tricks used in cyber crime. The course is concluded with a complete overview of how cyberevidence is generally collected, stored, and processed for prosecution. This course is a must for every IT Security professional, corporate security investigator, police officer and agent involved in law enforcement. (There are no prerequisites to this course, and no prior experience is necessary) Included in the cost of the course are current publications, reference materials and quick reference guides to assist the investigator.
